IT IS UP FROM HERE!
After starting off the first two weeks of the season winless, the mighty Manly Warringah Sea Eagles managed to get their first victory of 2016 against the Cronulla Sharks on Monday night.
In awful conditions of rain, temperatures in the teens and a crowd of only just over 5000 people, the Sea Eagles never stopped fighting in the ‘Battle of the Beaches’ and ended up winning by a convincing ten points.
Whilst the teams went into the sheds with the Cronulla up 8-6, Manly’s never-say-die attitude got them the two points at the end of the night.
Brett Stewart was back, and finally our team seemed complete. The ‘Prince of Brookvale’ is an extremely important asset to the team, and the un-reshuffled team along with his direction calling out from the back were two key factors in getting the win.
It was also great to see Trent Barrett’s passion shown getting his first win as an NRL coach, especially after Tom Trbojevic’s try to seal the match jumping up and down in the coaches box like a little kid at Christmas time.
The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles take on the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium on Easter Saturday, hoping to climb the ladder with another victory.
Players will have to step up with the likes of Brenton Lawrence and Marty Taupau already ruled out due to suspension, but I have no doubt that if the same effort is shown as on Monday, we will get the win.
I hope to see plenty of Manly supporters at Allianz Stadium in Bays 38 & 39, and around the ground. Let’s turn the SFS Maroon & White! Here’s to (hopefully) another win!
